Christopher M. Caruana, 35 years old from Grand Island, has been identified by state police as the pilot who lost his life in a plane accident last Sunday in Porter. At around 3:08 p.m., the single-propeller plane crashed, with Caruana as the only occupant of the aircraft. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. The incident occurred near Shear Airport, and according to authorities, the plane was heading north when it hit trees and power lines, eventually crashing in a field located north of Braley Road. The site of the crash is situated between Youngstown-Wilson Road and Porter Center Road, which is within proximity to Lake Ontario.
