Burton Farbman Death – Burton Farbman, founder of Corporate Partner Farbman Group in Southfield, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, July 1st, 2023. He was announced dead on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023, through a social media post that says “Our sincerest condolences are going out today to the Farbman Family on the passing of beloved patriarch, Burton Farbman. He was a great and generous man who leaves behind an important legacy, headlined by two great men in David and Andy.”

Who was Burton Farbman?

The chairman and CEO of the Farbman Group, Burton D. Farbman, has more than 30 years of experience in all facets of commercial and industrial real estate. The 1976-founded Farbman Group engages in land acquisition, construction, institutional sales, asset management, property management, asset disposition, consultancy, finance, and the lease and sale of office, retail, and industrial buildings.

The following achievements reflect Mr. Farbman’s involvement in real estate development, which spans over 10 million square feet of projects: Restoration of the Old Wayne County Building at a cost exceeding $30 million. It is the premier new development/redevelopment in downtown Detroit and was the recipient of a prestigious ULI award; Development of the third tower of the luxurious Riverfront Towers Apartments in downtown Detroit.

Including; Development of the new Detroit Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Agency in downtown Detroit.Development of the new Social Security Administration Building in Royal Oak; Development of several primary care satellite facilities for the Detroit Medical Center throughout metropolitan Detroit, and Development and implementation of land acquisition strategy for the new Comerica Park and the Ford Field.

Along with managing the First National Building and Penobscot Buildings in downtown Detroit, Mr. Farbman handled the property management of an office, commercial and industrial portfolio totaling more than 15 million square feet. By offering support services for real estate with the Delphi spin-off, Mr. Farbman also enjoyed a relationship with General Motors.

Members of the Urban Land Institute, National Realty Committee, National Institute of Real Estate Management, Michigan Real Estate Association, National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives, International Council of Shopping Centres, and Detroit Board of Realtors are just a few of Burton Farbman’s professional affiliations. In addition, Mr. Farbman belongs to the Chief Executives Organisation, the World Presidents Organisation, and the Detroit Presidents Organisation, and he formerly served as chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization’s Detroit Chapter.

In addition to serving on the boards of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, Thorn Apple Valley, the Detroit Zoological Society, the Economic Club of Detroit, the Detroit Legal News, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, Mr. Farbman is a commissioner for the City of Detroit Zoological Parks. Additionally, Mr. Farbman serves on the steering committee of the Detroit Regional District Council of the Urban Land Institute. He served as the Detroit Club’s previous president.

Burton Farbman’s obituary and funeral arrangements

The Funeral will be held at the Ira Kaufman Chapel on Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 at 1:30 pm. Rabbi Daniel Syme will officiate, with interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery. The family of Burton Farbman will be gathering through the evening of Thursday, July 6th at their residence, 27272 W. 14 Mile Road, Franklin MI 48025 Friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday immediately following the interment until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
