Brian Maher Death – Brian Maher, a resident of West Islip, New York, and an alumnus of Farmingdale State College has passed away suddenly. He was announced dead by a close friend on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, through a social media post that read “I was saddened to learn of the death of Brian Maher. To say he was a perfect gentleman would be an understatement. He just sent me an email on Tuesday which I regrettably did not have a chance to respond to. May he rejoice with the choirs of angels forever.”
Who was Brian Maher?
Brian Maher was a resident of West Islip, New York, and an alumnus of Farmingdale State College. He was a proud member of the class of 1968, the father of two graduates, Kara Grace (Maher) Darrell and Timothy Providence Maher, both of the classes of 1997 and 2006, respectively and the grandfather of five. Since 2009, he has informed more than 400 alumni and supporters of the college via his once-weekly email, “It’s Tuesday…,” about the prayer requests of his fellow students. Additionally, he contributes a weekly editorial to the parish bulletin.
Maher, who lives in West Islip, New York, with his wife Barbara, retired from Farmingdale State College in 2016 after working there for 37 years. Brian was such a fantastic person! He was unmatched in his religion and commitment to helping those in need. He had a profound impact on countless people’s spirits and souls, leaving behind an amazing legacy. Among all the teachers the children had at SJB, he stood out as a really kind individual with a radiant grin and a fantastic sense of humor.
Brian was an easy-going, fun-loving, kind-hearted, genuine, loyal, and devoted friend and was loved and adored by all who knew him. He never met a stranger. He leaves behind an enormous community of friends, family, and colleagues. Brian’s passions extended beyond extracurriculars, as he had an immense love for supporting the dreams of others and teaching and helping anyone in any way he could.
