Who was Brent VandenBroek?
Brent VandenBroek was a resident of Sarnia, Ontario, formerly of Whistler, and a graduate of Lambton College In Toronto. He was a self-taught painter from British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast. 2018 saw him pick up painting again following a 20-year break. He began with photorealism since it was a genre that fit his obsessive-compulsive attention to detail. He subsequently turned to impressionism, abstract art, and op art.
While he waits for his style to develop, he keeps experimenting with different techniques, methods, and materials while he continues to explore and work across genres. Being a lifelong student, he was keen to keep learning and growing. He recently started fusing abstraction with realism. He usually paints wildlife or the breathtaking landscapes of Canada’s west coast. However, his main goal was to produce art that was thought-provoking and emotional.
About Brent VandenBroek
The things that have impacted his art the most are his other passions, life experiences, and former careers. Brent’s photorealistic and op-art pieces are undoubtedly influenced by his meticulous tendencies and engineering experience. His entire life, he has competed in motorbike, motocross, and downhill mountain bike races. He has also always had a passion for the outdoors and wildlife. Each of these items had an impact on his artistic creations.
2018 saw Brent’s painting of Grizzly featured on Arts Whistler Fall for Arts. He always had the opinion that if you are gifted creatively, it is your duty to share it with everyone, including those who aren’t as fortunate, so they too can benefit from it. Marnie Vandenbroek-Hookey, his sister, loved and treasured him.
Brent VandenBroek’s obituary and funeral arrangements will be released by the family at a later date.
