Through her art, she skillfully captures the essence of African-American life and delves into the profound, multi-layered significance of the word ‘soul’, both literally and metaphorically. Robinson’s portraits encourage observers to peer into the depths of her subjects’ souls, fostering a shared understanding of our collective humanity.

Her fabric quilts not only showcase striking colors and forms but also encapsulate historical narratives and emotional resonance. Drawing from the rich heritage of African American quilt-making, she has pioneered a unique visual dialect—often employing a seemingly simple approach that veils intricate complexities, infused with an intense energy that creates a sense of perpetual motion, perpetually resonating with soulfulness.

Similar to W.E.B. Du Bois, she employs the concept of ‘soul’ to convey the timeless nature of the human journey, encapsulating moments of joy and sorrow, the fulfillment of achievements, the solace of familial bonds, and the enduring echoes of history.
