Austin Mitchell Death – A Gering, Nebraska man who worked as a driver at FedEx has tragically passed away in a vehicle accident. Austin Mitchell a graduate of Gering High School died in a deadly crash Thursday. The tragic accident happened on the Highway 71 North from Kimball. Law enforcement agencies were called to the scene for a crashed truck report.
According to the Kimball Nebraska Police Department, the deadly accident involved a FedEx truck and a Beet truck. According to reports, the driver of the FedEx truck rear-ended the Beet truck. Multiple agencies responded to the scene of the incident. Austin Mitchell was described as an athletic young man who kept himself busy. He worked as a distributor o at Mountain Man Nut & Fruit Co. and also as a driver at FedEx.
The was pronounced dead following the tragic accident. According to law enforcement agencies, the truck involved was not overturned. One driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene located just by the Beet dump turn-off on Hwy 71, north of Kimball. The HWY 71 was closed to investigations as law enforcement agencies arrived at the area.
Hours later, Kimball Nebraska Police Department announced that the road had reopened. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Kimball Nebraska Police Department. This is a developing story.
