According to the documents filed in the case, Andrew James Fantasia, who is 27 years old, is being prosecuted for official misconduct in the second degree as well as two offenses in the third degree: endangering the welfare of a child by participating in sexual activity that would impair or debauch the morals of a minor and aggravated criminal sexual contact. Both of these charges carry a maximum sentence of three years in prison.

The date of the offenses that were committed, as stated in the official documentation, was February 25. Fantasia has been employed by the district as a middle school math teacher since September 2021, and her yearly compensation is 60,087 dollars, according to the confirmation provided by the district’s spokesman, Allison Irwin.

Irwin stated that Fantasia is the assistant track coach as well as the club adviser for the mock trial squad at Jackson Memorial High School. The school district sent a letter to the parents on Thursday alerting them that a teacher had been arrested and was placed on paid administrative leave until the results of an investigation. The letter also informed the parents that the investigation was still ongoing. There was no mention of the educator’s name in the letter.

The next part of the letter stated that the district conducts background checks on all candidates to ensure that they have not been convicted of any crimes.
