Amanda Jez Munster IN, Elliott Elementary School Asst Principal has died

Amanda Jez Death – Amanda Jez, a resident of Munster, Indiana, and an Assistant Principal at Elliott Elementary School passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was 47 years old at the time of her death. She was announced dead on Sunday, June 11th, 2023, by the Elliott Elementary PTO through a written social media statement as they shared the devastating news with the community.

“The Elliott Elementary PTO is deeply saddened by the loss of our Assistant Principal and incredible leader Amanda Jez. Mrs. Jez was a light to all those who knew her, from her students at Elliott to her peers throughout School Town of Munster and her fellow Elliott teachers and parents. We cannot thank her enough for her kind heart, her time spent with students, her willingness to always go the extra mile, and the smile that welcomed everyone around her. Our heart goes out to her family. The Jez family will always be a part of Elliott and we will never forget how many lives she has touched.”

Who was Amanda Jez?

Amanda Lynn Jez was born in Hammond, Indiana on September 26, 1975, to (late) Joseph James Blees and Marlene (Hodgson) Blees-Hill. She had lived in Northwest Indiana all of her life. At Elliot Elementary School and Wilbert Wright Middle School, she served as an assistant principal. She has been a teacher for more than 25 years, providing exemplary service to the field of education. She went to St. Thomas More Catholic School in Munster, Indiana, and St. John Bosco Catholic School in Hammond, Indiana, for her elementary education.

She belonged to Dyer, Indiana’s St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. a 1993 high school graduate of Munster. She belonged to the Junior Women’s Club. She attended Indiana University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s in education in 1997 before going on to earn a master’s in administration. She was a proud Indiana Teachers Association member and a national board-certified teacher. She was a devoted mother to Jack and Emma Jez and a devoted wife to her devoted husband Michael Jez.

Amanda Jez had a tremendously good effect on the school throughout her tenure as vice principal. unpleasant situations were made less unpleasant by her professionalism and composure. Her engagement with students also demonstrated how much she cared. Both her coworkers and pupils adored and cherished her. She will always be remembered as a mother, a mentor, and an intelligent woman.

Munster Police Department Statement

The Munster Police Department would like to send out our condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers of Amanda Jez, assistant principal of Elliott Elementary School, who sadly passed away this past week. In addition to working with our police department on school safety initiatives she also regularly assisted with several other community policing events through her work with the Munster Junior Woman’s Club. She will be greatly missed.

Amanda Jez’s obituary and funeral arrangements

The Family will meet friends and family for a time of visitation on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at from 4-8 pm at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, In. 46321. (Across from Fitness Point), and again Wednesday, at the church from 9 am until the 10 am mass.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 10:00 am with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church located at 500 Northgate Drive Dyer, In. 46311 with Fr. Charles Niblick officiating. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 801 Michigan City Road, Calumet City, Illinois 60409. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to the Munster Education Foundation
