Al Hollingsworth Death – Al Hollingsworth has passed away suddenly. The Nova Scotia Hall of Fame member was confirmed dead on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He died leaving the hearts of many scared after learning of his tragic death. He was the father of Paul Hollingsworth of (CTV/TSN).
Who was Al Hollingsworth?
Al Hollingsworth was the father of Paul Hollingsworth (CTV/TSN). He was a well known at CIOE. Al Hollingsworth’s career as a sport builder has lasted over half a century and has encompassed most aspects of the sporting world, such as coaching, officiating, working in the media, and administrative work. He has also worked in the field.
Hollingsworth became involved in teaching hockey and baseball in the 1950s and continued to do so for a significant number of years, during which he moved up through the various levels of competition in both sports. His commitment to coaching and athletics was made clear when, throughout the course of a single hockey season, he oversaw not just three different teams but also served as president and general manager of the Halifax Junior Kingfishers.
His administrative duties expanded as a result of the various leadership positions he had, including that of founding president of the Halifax Blues Senior Hockey Club, president of the Nova Scotia Senior Hockey League, president of the Maritime Junior “A” Hockey League, and director of the Sackville Sports Heritage Hall of Fame, amongst many other titles and responsibilities. Even more, Hollingsworth was a part of the officiating crew.
He officiated hockey games, worked as an umpire for baseball games, and was the ring announcer for the Halifax Boxing Commission. But that is not the end of it. Al Hollingsworth was active in a variety of sporting activities beyond just playing.
While he was serving in the military and stationed in Ontario, he was unable to coach, so instead he became a sports editor. He remained in this job when he returned to his native province of Nova Scotia. He was also a well-known radio personality, and he appeared frequently on a weekly sports show that was broadcast on MITV.
