Aaron McAtee Death – Aaron McAtee, a resident of Monticello, Iowa, and an employee at Fareway Meat and Grocery passed away tragically on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023. He was confirmed dead through a social media publication that read “Please do an extra act of kindness today and every day. Do this in honor of Aaron McAtee. Let’s make Monticello an example of how the world should be. Kindness is the key.”

What was Aaron McAtee’s cause of death?

In a press release, Monticello Police Chief Britt D. Smith stated that when officers arrived at Fareway Meat and Grocery on Tuesday just before 7:30 a.m., they discovered 48-year-old Aaron McAtee shot outside the establishment, next to a loading dock. After being transported to a hospital, he passed away. After determining that Nathan Russell, 38, of East Dubuque, Illinois, was the suspect, the investigators started their search.

About ten miles (16 kilometers) from Monticello, in the town of Hopkinton, a Delaware County deputy saw Russell. According to Smith, the deputy shot Russell “in the attempt to detain Russell” after he failed to comply. On Wednesday, Russell stayed in the hospital; however, there was no immediate update on his health. While the shooting is still being looked into, the deputy who shot him is placed on administrative leave. The case was being reviewed by prosecutors.

Tribute to Aaron McAtee

Friends and families took to social media to mourn Aaron’s death. A person wrote “Whether you knew Aaron McAtee personally or not, the entire Monticello community is feeling this tonight. My thoughts and prayers go out to Aaron’s family and friends, and everybody touched by this horrible tragedy today. Hold your loved ones extra close tonight.”

Another person who is devastated by the loss also wrote “To one of the nicest, friendliest guys out there, I am gonna miss the hell out of ya! From our countless laughs working at Fareway, our summertime golf outings, and our talks at Panther football games, I will forever cherish the time I got to spend with you. Fortunate to get to know Aaron’s wonderful family, my thoughts and prayers are with his entire family.”

The family will release Aaron McAtee’s obituary and funeral arrangements at a later date.
